AVPS®
The first patented "Intelligent" Dual-Battery System for Vehicles

_____________________________________________________________________________________
A “New” product from EMC that provides real solutions for adapted vehicles requiring “Dual Battery systems”. Today’s modern vehicles have charging systems capable of delivering in excess of 120 amps @ v12vDC for ONE vehicle battery. Computers in these vehicles also monitor and control the alternator output based on temperature and duty cycles. Simple solenoids and diode isolators simply cannot adequately address the needs of today’s adapted vehicles.
Simple Concept
The idea of putting an additional second battery in a vehicle modified with adaptive equipment is simple.......we need more available battery power to handle the added electrical requirements of the “add-on” adaptive equipment. We also want this auxiliary battery to provide a second means of power in the event the main vehicle battery becomes discharged or damaged and unable to perform its function.

Critical power requirement items in today’s adapted vehicles might include:
  • REDUNDANT POWER SUPPLY
  • EMERGENCY EGRESS POWER
  • EMERGENCY STARTING POWER
So, how does the possibly critical auxiliary battery maintain a charge and be ready to perform it’s redundant role...........in a vehicle designed to maintain and monitor only ONE?

The answer to maintaining two batteries with a single alternator, with the second battery possibly serving a critical function, is one of intelligence.

Microproccessor based circuits within the AVPS® module decide which battery is connected to the vehicle for charging purposes, yet allows the driver to manually select the auxiliary battery for critical function operation in the event the main vehicle battery fails and the vehicle will not start. AVPS also provides the driver with visual and audible status of the two batteries if preset voltage thresholds are not met, via the small 1/4” thick, dash mounted display.

Large 200 amp contactors within the AVPS® Module control all power switching between
the two batteries and the vehicle, with “make before break” intelligence. This assures that battery power is always available to the vehicle regardless of driver input or system failure.
Impeccable Quality
Like all EMC products, AVPS® was designed with every detail in mind. ALL cables required for installation in your vehicle, are specially constructed at EMC and included with every AVPS® kit. These cables are labelled, sized, terminated, boot protected, and manufactured with a protective sheathing, to remove all of the guesswork out of every installation. Of course, each AVPS® is supplied with a step by step installation manual and is covered by EMC's unprecedented warranty. See your EMC Dealer for details.
Optional Power Kit
Sensible Solutions.......for a not so Simple Need
Although the concept of providing auxiliary batteries is simple, implementing them in today’s modern adaptive vehicles is not. That is why EMC has provided all the necessary products to guaranty a professional and straight forward electrical system installation in all specialty vehicles.

The optional Power Kit from EMC allows vehicle modifiers to add an additional 100 amps of electrical euipment to the vehicle
through a dedicated power distribution
fuse box. This eliminates the issues of
possible overload to original vehicle
circuits not designed for “add-on”
devices.
